A deeply researched, emotionally powerful, and visually stunning historical novel.
As a history enthusiast, I truly appreciated the accuracy and depth of the research, but what captivated me even more was the human story behind the historical events. The integration of authentic photographs, archival documents, and interactive historical links adds an extra dimension to the reading experience—making it not only entertaining but also profoundly educational.
A historical fiction masterpiece that is immersive, enlightening, and fascinating from beginning to end!

I discovered Heimkehr by chance and it was like finding a lost fragment of our maritime history. The author achieves something very difficult: to tell a German story from the other side of the world, with respect, detail and emotion. The story of the Herzogin Cecilie is told with soul. It transported me.

If you love the sea, history, and powerful storytelling, this book is for you.
More than just a historical odyssey, it brings the past to life through a vivid modern narrative and the clever use of digital tools, including restored historical images, nautical maps, and authentic documents.
I read it aboard a sailboat anchored in Chiloé… and I felt as if the past was sailing right alongside me.
A must-read for fans of maritime history, nautical adventures, and historical fiction with depth and soul.

BIO

Carlos Marsh von der Forst (Santiago, Chile, 1957) is a writer, sailor, and storyteller who currently resides on a small island in Chiloé, at the heart of Northern Patagonia.
Originally trained as a graphic designer and advertising creative, Carlos was a pioneer in the Chilean digital landscape. He founded one of the country’s first online marketing agencies, leading innovation and strategy projects for top-tier companies for over 35 years. His career also includes keynote speaking engagements in cities such as Santiago, Miami, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, and Kuala Lumpur.
Yet his compass hasn’t pointed only to professional success. As co-founder of Desafío Levantemos Chile, a foundation dedicated to supporting disaster victims, he has demonstrated a strong and lasting social commitment.
A lifelong lover of the sea, Carlos has competed in oceanic regattas, served as an officer in the Chilean Navy’s Naval Reserve, and created Marina Puduhuapi, a nautical refuge on Mechuque Island, where he now lives part of the year and writes immersed in the rhythms of island life.
Now retired from marketing, he sails new waters: those of historical narrative. From the shores of Chiloé, he crafts historical fiction novels that blend rigorous research, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies to create immersive literary experiences. His works are enriched with restored historical images, nautical maps, videos, and interactive links that expand and deepen the reader’s journey.
A widower, father of three, and grandfather of two, Carlos believes that every story deserves to be told with passion, truth, and depth.
A lifelong lover of the sea, Carlos has been an active competitor in ocean races, an officer in the Chilean Navy’s Naval Reserve, and the founder of Marina Puduhuapi—a remote nautical refuge on Mechuque Island, where he spends much of his time writing, surrounded by the natural beauty and solitude of island life.
Now retired from his career in marketing, he navigates a new course: that of historical fiction. From his home in Chiloé, Carlos writes novels that merge in-depth historical research with artificial intelligence and digital technology, creating immersive literary experiences enriched with restored images, interactive maps, archival videos, and contextual links that extend each narrative far beyond the page.
A widower, father of three, and proud grandfather of two granddaughters, he continues to believe that every story deserves to be told with passion, depth, and a touch of wonder.
